Calamity has just been announced as the winner of the Personal and Business Services Provider of the Year at the 2016 Optus My Business Awards. The awards ceremony was held in Sydney on the 18th of November, where leading businesses from all over the country gathered to celebrate innovation and success across a range of industries.
Daniel Lewkovitz founded Calamity in 2008 after recognising a need for high tech electronic security and life-safety solutions in a totally stagnant industry. The Optus My Business Awards, which covers 24 categories, recognises individual and business excellence across the diverse range of industries and locations in which SMEs operate.
The panel said of Calamity "This year's winner impressed the judges with their fast-moving business model, dedication to customer service and ongoing support for staff diversity".
Calamity is a major employer of people with disabilities and has a strong company culture renowned for championing diversity.
In 2013 Calamity won the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) Award for Diversity. Despite being a small business at that stage, Calamity was commended for being a leader in this field and when being awarded beat some of Australia's largest companies, banks and employers, setting an example for all Australian businesses to follow
